WHAT IS THE STANDARD SIZE?
You may have noticed that some pieces do not specify a specific size, but instead have the expression 'Standard Size' or 'STD'. Although standard body measurements vary from brand to brand in the same way from country to country, the body size expressed in our country corresponds to size 36 - 40. The lower or upper size limit may vary depending on the brand, for example, the standard size in American brands starts from size 38. For this reason, we recommend that you pay attention to the descriptions of the standard size product you will purchase. Why Are There Standard Size Measurements? Brands sell clothes in standard size sizes in order to reach a wider customer base with the same product by reducing costs. When a single mold is used, the production process accelerates and the cost of keeping products in stock decreases, as the standard size covers the most frequently used sizes. These products are generally sports products such as sweatshirts and tracksuits that do not hug the body much and are somewhat loose-fitting. In the most general terms, the standard size is the clothing size that includes the sizes Small (S), Medium (M) and Large (L) in a common size and can be used by all customers who wear clothing in these sizes. How a piece sold in standard size will look on you will vary depending on your body type. For this reason, it is best to know your own body measurements and choose an STD size product by comparing it with the arm, chest and body measurements of the clothing product. Benefits and Harms of Standard Size Measurement The point that can be considered as a disadvantage for a brand that produces in standard size measurements is that it cannot track which size customers buy the product most, that is, it cannot determine the target audience of the product. Similarly, it cannot reach customers in sizes other than the standard size and cannot sell this product to them. This victimization is mutual between the customer and the brand. Since the customer's body size does not fall within this STD range, even if he purchases the product, he will return it and will not be able to use it. The existence of this size makes some people feel the pressure that you have to be a standard size in society. Of course, such a thing is unacceptable, every individual deserves to dress to feel beautiful in their own body. While it benefits mass production processes, reducing the cost of a single product is the biggest benefit it provides to the brand. It is an environmentally friendly option, since the production process is less, less resources are consumed. In summary, when buying products in standard size, be sure to take your own body measurements beforehand and compare them with the measurements of the product to confirm whether it fits you or not.
